Another Summer gone by

It happens every year. September comes and I realize another summer has slipped by with out me doing 1/2 of what I wanted to do. This one was exceptionally dull.
I didn't do a damn thing.
Sure I got a kick ass tan reading on my deck. Yes I went to Scandia. Once.
But I live in the Okanagan. I should have been camping, touring, mini golfing, hiking...any number of Okanagan things that people all over the world travel here to do.
Except go to the beach...so not doing that.
Instead I spent my weeks working and my weekends cleaning up after the ungrateful teenagers.
I didn't travel, having wasted the majority of my vacation time visiting Albertans in the winter. WTF was I thinking?
Do I sound resentful? Maybe I am a little.
So this year I will put in writing what I always wish I had done and commit to doing it next summer.
I will learn to Kayak and spend at least 8 days on the lake kayaking and searching for Ogopogo.
I will travel down the Oregon Coast. If Dustin and Michaela can do it on less that a thousand dollars then I should have no problem.
I will hike along the transCanada trail and the train trestles with my dog and my camera.
I will go back to Merritt next year- not for the music but for the fun with my family....well and riding a wanna be cowboy is something every girl should do at least once a year. As the song says.
And speaking of riding I am going to sign up for Motorcycle lessons and get my license to ride.
Next summer I will be 40 and a life wasted is just a tragedy. I only have maybe 30 good years left. That's not a lot of time to get all that living in. I have to start now.
Perhaps I'd better get a winter plan in place too.
